- G’day I’m big Andrew or that crazy fellow you have to be touched to live out here on the opal fields for the past 20+ years, well you don’t have to be, but it helps.
- I started off cutting in Victoria loved it so went off to look for stones all over the place.
- Travelled in my wagon and trailer fossicking all over the place found lots of gems including topaz, sapphires all types of crystals and ended up in Lightning Ridge and started digging.
- I’ve learnt a bit about opal and have discovered new things.
- I can read the surface with the tricks the old timers used.
- Read the ground in the mine to help find it.
- Then hopefully read a stone as I cut it.
- I have lived n survived on the fields for decades I live n breathe .
